LOUISE HAMMOND

Louise Hammond has served as Nortel’s Pensions Manager for the past five years but has now decided to leave for pastures new with effect from June 25, 2010. As many of you will know, Louise also performed the role of Secretary to the Trustee Board and the Trustees would like to take this opportunity to thank her for all of her efforts over the years especially since January 2009 when the UK Pension Plan entered the PPF Assessment process.

In order to find a replacement for Louise’s day to day activities, the Trustee invited applications from a number of companies who provide professional Pensions Manager services and following presentations from a shortlist of bidders the Trustee has appointed Capita Hartshead as independent Pensions Manager and Plan secretary. Capita is a FTSE 100 company and one of the UK's leading providers of pensions services. It administers pension schemes for over 500 clients, covering more than 3.2 million members throughout the UK. In 2006 it won the contract to administer pension payments for the PPF.

Notwithstanding Capita's PPF knowledge, Capita also has considerable knowledge and experience of schemes that wind-up outside of the PPF and therefore will be able to provide effective support to the Trustee Board whether the Plan ultimately transfers to the PPF or is able to wind-up outside of it.

Capita will also work with the Plan’s administrators, Towers Watson, who remain the first point of contact for all Plan members.
